Why is TV viewing distance important?

The viewer's distance from the TV matters because of how the human eye works. If you sit too close to the TV, you can make out the rows and columns of pixels that constitute the TV image, which is obviously distracting. If you are too far from the screen, your eye can no longer perceive the smaller details of what you are seeing. In both cases, your ability to enjoy the visuals is seriously impaired.
